On May 17, the conservative majority Supreme Court agreed to review a case challenging the state of Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

It’s been 46 years since the militant women’s movement won the 1973 Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision that secured the legal right to abortion. Although the right was won on paper, millions of working-class people continue to face barriers to accessing abortion and other reproductive health services.
Ever since the landmark 1973 case Roe v. Wade established safe and legal abortion as our right, reactionary forces have sought to reverse this decision by any means necessary.
Transgender individuals face many barriers and obstacles when it comes to
accessing adequate health care, including outright discrimination and the refusal to treat transgender patients altogether.
Throughout the history of abortion criminalization, women have fought back against the misogyny inherent in controlling women’s bodies and reproductive rights.
